A digital space for spatial design
ZMIK is a well-known studio for spatial design – creating spaces that tell stories, places people meet, and distinctive spatial identities. I built their new digital presence.
The challenge
ZMIK wanted a modern presence – both in design and in the technology behind it. Three things needed to improve on the old site in particular:
Shareable projects: The previous site was a single page on a single URL, which meant individual projects couldn't be linked to or shared on social media.
A modern CMS: The client wanted a system that made creating and editing content straightforward.
Built for mobile: The old site worked well on desktop but didn't hold up on smaller screens.
The solution
Working from ZMIK’s brief, I rebuilt the site on Statamic. The work covered:
Technical build: I took the screen designs from the design agency and implemented them pixel-perfectly, with careful attention to performance.
A page per project: Every project now has its own URL and its own page – making it properly shareable.
Responsive throughout: The new site is fully optimised for mobile.
Built to last: Statamic is easy to use for content editing and flexible enough to grow with the studio.
Results and outlook
The site has been live since December 2024. Measurable results are still early, but several improvements are already visible:
More visibility: Thanks to the new structure, projects aren't just shareable – they're indexable by search engines for the first time. ZMIK's reach has grown accordingly.
Easier to manage: ZMIK now edits the site themselves, without technical hurdles. The studio can show its craft in the abstract space of the web – with effect, not for effect.
Better experience: The responsive design reduces bounce on mobile and lifts the site's ranking in organic search.
